YOGYAKARTA

Located right smack in the middle of Java, and ignoring the fact that it offers the infamous Borobudur and Prambanan temple sites, the city offers an incridible array of cultural explorations and opportunities. Jump in a pedal-powered becak and let them wheel you around the city's suburbs and sites; practice your hand at making some batik to wear to the next wedding; take an Indonesian lenguage course so you can order more than just chicken from the menu; head to Viavia cafe on Jl. Prawirotaman where you can arrange for a bicycle tour of villages while also engaging in home industries, take a religion tour, join a jamu and massage trip or join a tea plantation-forest-erotic temple trek. Don't forget to eat the gudeg while you're there.
